Question - What is Aluminum Rivet?

Aluminium Rivet is an Ideal lightweight yet secure way of fixing multiple materials perfect for aluminium  sheet. ... Standard – the most popular rivet used in industry also known as a “blind rivet” available with large head, countersunk head and domed head.

Aluminium Rivet is a permanent mechanical fastener Before being installed, Aluminium rivet consists of a smooth cylindrical shaft with a head on one end. The end opposite to the head is called the tail. On installation, the Aluminium Rivet is placed in a punched or drilled hole, and the tail is upset, or bucked (i.e., deformed), so that it expands to about 1.5 times the original shaft diameter, holding the Aluminium Rivet in place. In other words, the pounding or pulling creates a new "head" on the tail end by smashing the "tail" material flatter, resulting in a Aluminium Rivet that is roughly a dumbbell shape. To distinguish between the two ends of the rivet, the original head is called the factory head and the deformed end is called the shop head or buck-tail.

Because there is effectively a head on each end of an installed rivet, it can support tension loads. However, it is much more capable of supporting shear loads (loads perpendicular to the axis of the shaft).

Fastenings used in traditional wooden boat building, such as copper nails and clinch boalt, work on the same principle as the Aluminium Rivet but were in use long before the term rivet was introduced and, where they are remembered, are usually classified among nails and bolts respectively.

What is Aluminum Rivets used for?

Aluminum Rivet fasteners are strong, lightweight, and exhibit natural corrosion resistance. These and other properties make them an ideal solution for countless uses, from camping gear to light- and medium-duty machinery to aerospace equipment. Aluminum Rivets are an excellent option for permanent fastener applications.

Solid Aluminium Rivet -

Aluminum Rivets are an excellent option for permanent fastener applications. Some of the advantages of solid aluminum rivets include:
  • Corrosion resistance: Aluminum Rivets and its alloys naturally form a protective oxide layer on their surface. This oxide layer shields the material against corrosion and the elements.
  • High strength-to-weight ratio: Aluminum rivets provides the best strength-to-weight ratio of any metal. In most applications, it is as strong as steel, but weighs only about one-third as much.
  • Nonmagnetic & nonsparking: Aluminum solid rivets are nonmagnetic and nonsparking, making them ideal for electronics and related applications and for use in potentially explosive environments.
  • Conductivity: Aluminum rivets exhibits good thermal and electrical conductivity. It offers 59% the conductivity of copper (thermal and electrical), with less than an third of the density.

Question - Why use Solid Copper Rivet?

  • Strong, permanent joints: Solid Copper Rivets are extremely strong and sturdy, making them a great solution for permanent fastener applications. Once installed, copper rivets can only be removed using tools that destroy the rivet.
  • Natural corrosion resistance: Copper Rivets is one of several metals that exhibits a relatively high level of natural corrosion resistance, as well as humidity resistance. This makes Copper Rivets an ideal option for outdoor and marine applications where they are exposed to the elements, as well as for clothing and similar items that are regularly washed/cleaned.
  • Decorative look: Copper has long been used for its aesthetic appeal. This, along with the material’s strength and resilience, makes solid Copper Rivets popular for applications that need a combination of function and style.
  • Fast & easy assembly: When using a mechanical rivet installer an with automatic feed, Copper Rivets can be applied at speed up to 3 per second.
Solid Copper Rivets -

Solid Copper Rivets are among the simplest, most reliable, and oldest types of fasteners. Archaeologists have found evidence of Solid Copper Rivets use dating as far back as the Bronze Age (circa 3000 BCE). These simple devices consist of a solid shaft with a head on one end; once installed, the headless end of a Solid Copper Rivets is deformed with a hammer or rivet gun to hold it in place. Perhaps the most widely-used style of rivet, solid rivets are utilized in applications where reliability and safety are important.

Nascent Pipes & Tubes stocks a huge selection of solid rivets. We offer rivets in a range of sizes and materials to meet the needs of your fastener application. Follow the links below to find the solid rivets you need, request a quote, or contact us to learn more.
